December 12, 2005
The International Advisory and Monitoring Board (IAMB) of the Development Fund for Iraq (DFI) issued the following statement:
"On November 8, 2005 the UN Security Council extended for another year the mandate of the IAMB. The IAMB, which is comprised of members representing the Government of Iraq, and the executive heads of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and United Nations, exercises an oversight role over the use of resources of the DFI, into which all Iraqi oil export proceeds are deposited.
"UN Security Council Resolution 1637 recognized the significant role of the IAMB and extended its mandate through December 31, 2006, subject to review by the Government of Iraq by June 15, 2006; the resolution is available on the IAMB website (www.iamb.info). The IAMB will meet in New York on December 28-29, 2005 to continue its review of DFI expenditures. A press briefing is planned following the conclusion of the meeting on December 29."
